The EDUC Gap Year Student Scholarship 2026/2027 provides an opportunity for students of the University of Pécs to undertake funded academic mobility at partner institutions across Europe. Launched under the EDUC European University Alliance framework, the programme promotes international collaboration, intercultural exchange, and academic development through structured semester-long study abroad placements.
This initiative supports physical mobility, enabling selected students to spend up to 4.5 months at a partner EDUC university while maintaining active enrolment at the University of Pécs. The programme strengthens academic integration across Europe and offers participants the opportunity to broaden their academic, linguistic, and cultural perspectives.
Programme Details
The EDUC Gap Year Student Scholarship allows eligible students to complete one semester of study at a participating EDUC Alliance university in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, and the Czech Republic.
Students remain officially enrolled at the University of Pécs throughout the mobility period and are expected to complete a structured academic workload at the host institution. Participants must earn a minimum of 30 ECTS credits during their study abroad semester to ensure academic continuity and progression within their degree programme.
The scholarship is designed to enhance international exposure, foster cross-border academic cooperation, and develop students’ intercultural competencies within the European Higher Education Area.
Funding Benefits
Selected students will receive financial and academic support, including:
Monthly stipend of €600 for mobility in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Norway
Monthly stipend of €480 for mobility in the Czech Republic
One-time travel grant of €400 for Western European destinations
One-time travel grant of €300 for the Czech Republic
Tuition-free study at the host EDUC partner university
Opportunity to earn at least 30 ECTS credits during the mobility period
Full academic, cultural, and language immersion experience
Applicants should note that while the scholarship provides substantial financial assistance, the grant may not fully cover all living expenses. Students may need to supplement the stipend with personal funds depending on their destination and lifestyle.
Eligibility Criteria
The EDUC Gap Year Student Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled at the University of Pécs. To be eligible, applicants must:
Be enrolled in a BA/BSc or MA/MSc programme at the University of Pécs
Hold active student status throughout the mobility period
Not complete their degree before the end of the gap year mobility
Meet the language requirements of the chosen host university (typically B2–C1 level)
Demonstrate clear academic motivation, cultural openness, and a defined study purpose
The following applicants are not eligible:
First-semester undergraduate students
Students who receive certain Hungarian government scholarships concurrently with this mobility grant
Applicants must ensure that their academic plans align with both their home institution’s curriculum requirements and the host university’s course offerings.

Application Deadline
The application deadline for the EDUC Gap Year Student Scholarship 2026/2027 (first semester intake) is 13 March 2026 at 13:00 (CET).
Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered. Following submission, a professional evaluation committee will review applications between 3 and 14 April 2026. Successful applicants will be notified via email after the evaluation process is completed.
